Bio

Seulement is the solo project of Montreal-based electronic musician and audiovisual artist Mathieu Arsenault.  His work investigates the imperfections of the human voice and body in an era of technological perfection. Seulement assembles angular structures where the natural and artificial become entangled. His first album EX PO invests the improbable connection between experimental electronic music and more traditional songwriting. In a process more akin to sculpting than storytelling, Seulement offers a modern take on the use of the human voice and body in an audiovisual framework anchored both in lyricism and structuralism.

Aside from Seulement, Mathieu Arsenault was first known as the frontman of experimental rock band Technical Kidman with whom he released two albums and two EPs. Apart from strictly musical projects, he also investigates the relationship between sound and images through his various collaborations with filmmaker Charles-André Coderre (Jerusalem in my Heart, OK LÀ festival) and multidisciplinary artist Véro Marengère. He also regularly writes music for danse pieces. With his various projects, Arsenault performed in many festivals across Europe and the Americas including: Mutek Montreal, M+ Festival (Honduras), International Film Festival Rotterdam, Sound/Image (London UK), Iceland Airwaves, Nouvelle Prague, Suoni Per Il Popolo (Montreal), Wavelength (Toronto) and many more.
